THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER : SARAH DESSEN
This is easily one of my favourite books. This book is about Macy who is still recovering from her father's sudden death. Her mother has buried herself in her work and her boyfriend has gone away to brain camp for the summer. Upset and confused about her boyfriend's reaction to her latest email and her mother's constant disapproval, Macy ends up getting a job at the catering company her mother hired for an event. There she meets Wes and the rest of the crew. As the summer goes on she learns that having a set plan and being perfect is not realistic.
One of the main reasons I love this book is because Macy learns to understand that being perfect is not a thing, It can't be done because there is no such thing as perfect. I read this while I was starting high school and I still love this book to this day. I was able to relate because at that time everyone seemed like they were living a perfect life with everything planned out.
I absolutely adored the relationships she had with all the characters. I loved Macy's friendship with Kristy, Monica and Delia and Bert. I loved how her more than friendship with Wes was created and delivered.
I especially loved the little victories she had throughout the summer. My favourite scene for sure was when Macy jumped over the library desk, quitting her job and leaving her old self, in a way, behind her. The only thing I would say I didn't appreciate was the way it ended, only because there was a sweet scene I had been waiting for and it ended only a few pages after it.
I cherish this book still and read it whenever I can because it always puts a smile on my face and makes me feel warm and happy.
If you're looking for a light summer read definitely give this a read.
